Sonia Vanina Forcales, holder of a Ph.D. degree, is an Associate Investigator at the Institute of Predictive and Personalized Medicine of Cancer (IMPPC) in Barcelona. Her areas of expertise include epigenetic control of gene expression, chromatin remodeling, lineage determination of embryonic stem cells, proteomic analysis of transcriptional complexes, and p38 kinase signaling during myogenic differentiation. She has authored publications in peer-reviewed journals, where she described several regulatory mechanisms of myogenic and macrophage-specific transcription. She has worked in several Institutions such as Sanford Burnham Medical Research Institute, La Jolla, USA; Dulbecco Telethon Institute, Rome, Italy; “Parco Scientifico Biomedico di Roma”, Italy, and University of Barcelona, Spain. Her research is focused on understanding the role of chromatin architecture in regulating gene expression and genomic stability.
