Roger Garrett

Roger Garrett was born in Bradford, UK, in 1943. He received a degree in chemistry at the University College, London, Uk, and obtained a Ph.D. degree in biophysics at the MRC Biophysics Unit, King's College, London, UK, in 1968. He spent a postdoctoral period in Leiden University, The Netherlands, which was followed by a Group Leader position at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics, West Berlin (1969–1979). Garrett is an elected EMBO Member in 1980. Since then, he has worked primarily on the molecular biology and genomics of the Archaea and their viruses at the University of Aarhus, Denmark, until 1989, and subsequently as a Professor at the University of Copenhagen.
