Gianfranco Pintus

Qatar University, College of Health Sciences, Department of Biomedical Sciences, Qatar

Gianfranco Pintus received his M.S. degree from the University of Sassari, Italy, and his Ph.D. degree from the University of Bologna, Italy. His research training includes an internship in organic chemistry at the National Research Council and research training in biochemistry and cell biology at the Institute of Biochemistry, School of Medicine, University of Sassari. He spent three years working at a postdoctoral level at the Laboratory of Cardiovascular Science, National Institute on Aging, Baltimore, MD, USA. Currently, he holds a position of Associate Professor at the Department of Biomedical Science, College of Health Sciences, Qatar University. Professor Pintus' work encompasses studies on several aspects related to the vascular biology. Particular emphasis is directed on the study of molecular mechanisms involved in vascular remodeling during aging and diseases, as well as on the effects exerted by natural antioxidants on the redox status, redox signaling, and oxidative stress in vascular cells.
