Raban Chanda serves as a Human Geographer with over 30 years of teaching, research, and consultancy experience in Botswana and Zambia in the broad area of human dimensions of environmental change and natural resource management in the context of rural livelihoods. He received his Ph.D. degree from the Graduate School of Geography at Clark University in Worcester, USA. He serves currently as Professor in the Department of Environmental Science at the University of Botswana, Botswana, for which he served as the Chair for a period of 6 years from January 2003 to December 2008. Professor Chanda has led several large multidisciplinary research projects and successfully supervised or cosupervised 42 postgraduate dissertations at the University of Botswana and Northwest University (RSA), China, culminating into 4 Ph.D. and 38 M.S. degrees.
