Giridhar Madras

Giridhar Madras received his B.Che.E. degree from the Indian Institute of Technology at Madras in 1990. He subsequently obtained his Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering from Texas A&M University, USA, in 1994. Afterwards, he worked as a Researcher in the University of California at Davis, USA. He returned to India as an Assistant Professor of chemical engineering at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Since 2007, he has been a Full Professor at the Chemical Engineering Department and is currently the Chairman of the National Center of Scientific Information. He received the Scopus Young Scientist Award from Elsevier for being the most cited young author in the field of engineering and was awarded the Presidential Swarnajayanthi Fellowship by the Department of Science and Technology, India, and the Bhatnagar prize by the prime minister for his contributions to the field of chemical engineering. He has published 300 journal articles, which have nearly 5500 citations. He is currently a Member of the Editorial Boards of several journals including Current Science and International journal of polymer science. His research interests, in addition to macromolecular science, are in the areas of supercritical fluids, catalysis, and reaction engineering. Further information may be obtained from his website,
