Alon Scope

Alon Scope, M.D. degree, is a Senior Dermatologist and an expert in the early detection of skin cancer. Dr. Scope is working as a Dermato-Oncologist at Sheba Medical Center, a large tertiary academic medical center in Israel. He integrates skin cancer surveillance and detection with advanced skin imaging technologies, including dermoscopy, total body photography, and reflectance confocal microscopy. Dr. Scope received his M.D. degree (magna cum laude) from Tel Aviv University in 1995. He completed his dermatology residency with honors at Sheba Medical Center (2000–2004) and decided to dedicate his career to the diagnosis and treatment of cancers of the skin. He completed a cutaneous oncology clinical and research fellowship at the Dermatology Service, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Ny, USA (2005–2008). Being a specialist in skin microscopy, he also trained as a Dermatopathology Fellow at the Ackerman Academy of Dermatopathology, Ny, USA (2008-2009), while serving as a Visiting Investigator at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (2008-2009). Dr. Scope has written more than 70 scientific publications and chapters and is an internationally recognized speaker on melanoma. He serves as an Assistant Section Editor for the Archives of Dermatology and regularly peer-reviews papers for leading dermatology journals. He has also organized five annual U.S. conferences of the International Society for Digital Imaging of the Skin (2005–2009). Dr. Scope’s contribution to skin cancer research has been recently recognized by his peers; he was the first recipient of the Paolo Carli Award for Scientific Excellence and Contributions to Dermoscopic Research during 2006–2009, given at the award session of the 2nd International Dermoscopy Society Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
