R. N. Weinreb

R. N. Weinreb has received an M.D. degree. He is a Clinician, a Surgeon, and a Scientist. Dr. Weinreb graduated from Harvard Medical School and completed his residency and fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. He is the Distinguished Professor of ophthalmology at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Weinreb is also the Director of the Hamilton Glaucoma Center, which provides state-of-the art laboratory and clinical research facilities for unique cross-disciplinary investigative programs to enhance the discovery and translation of innovative research to prevent and cure glaucoma and other optic neuropathies. Dr. Weinreb has served as President of the Association for Research in vision and ophthalmology (2002-2003), President of the World Glaucoma Association (2004-2006), and President of the American Glaucoma Society (2007 - 2009). He has trained more than 120 postdoctoral Fellows, many of whom hold distinguished academic positions throughout the world.
