Padmanabhan Sharda Rajini

Padmanabhan Sharda Rajini was born in Trivandrum, India in 1957. She received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Mysore, Mysore, India in 1979 and 1985, respectively. During her Ph.D., she worked in the area of pesticide toxicology at the Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore, India. From 1990 to 1993, she worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Institute of Toxicology and Environmental Health, University of California, Davis, Calif, USA, wherein she worked in the area of inhalation/respiratory toxicology and lung tumor biology. In 1993, Rajini obtained the Diplomate of American Board of Toxicology. From 2005 to 2006, she visited the University of Georgia, Athens, Ga, USA as a visiting Scientist to work with Caenorhabditis elegans as a model to study pesticide toxicity. Currently, she is working as a Scientist at CFTRI. Her current research interests include mechanistic toxicology of pesticides using both rodents and C. elegans as animal models. She is also interested in obtaining insights into the role of insecticides in diabetes and neurological disorders such as Parkinson's disease.
