Evangelos Misiakos

Evangelos P. Misiakos is an Assistant Professor of general surgery with special interest in gastrointestinal surgery. He has received his medical degrees from the University of Athens School of Medicine, Greece, and has completed his surgical residency in Laikon Univerity Hospital, in Athens, Greece, in 1997. In the following years, he has been a Research Associate in Transplantation Surgery at the Liver & GI Transplant Unit at the Univerity of Miami (1997–2000). During this period, he had the opportunity to attend Laparoscopic Surgery in Baptist Hospital of Miami. Since 2002, he is an attending surgeon at the 3rd Department of Surgery in Attikon University Hospital, in Athens, Greece. He is performing general surgery, and during the last few years, he introduced the laparoscopic approach in several areas of surgery, such as in hernia surgery and gastrointestinal surgery. Dr. Misiakos is an active Member in several scientific societies, such as the SLS, the International Society of Surgery, and the European Association of Endoscopic Surgery. He published 54 articles in peer-reviewed journals and 2 chapters in books and up-to-date has performed more than 70 presentations in international congresses.
