Venelin M. Gerganov serves as a Consultant Neurosurgeon in the Department of Neurosurgery, International Neuroscience Institute, Hannover, Germany, and an Associate Professor at the Hannover Medical School, Hanover, Germany. He received his M.D. degree from Sofia Medical University, Sofia, Bulgaria, and his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Neurosurgery of the same university. Gerganov had neurosurgical training in the same department and also at the International Neuroscience Institute, Hannover, Germany (Professor M. Samii). His board certifications include accreditation for medical specialization in neurosurgery, Bulgaria, and accreditation for medical specialization in neurosurgery, Lower Saxony, Germany. His research interests include skull base surgery, neurooncology, brain mapping, intraoperative imaging, neuroendoscopy, and spine surgery. Gerganov published 62 scientific articles. He is on the Editorial Boards of Clinical Neurology and Neurosurgery and BioMed Research International, and he serves as an Assistant to the Editor-in-Chief of Neurosurgical Review.
