Nicolas Tsapatsoulis graduated from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 1994 and received his Ph.D. degree in Image Analysis and Synthesis in 2000 from the same university. He has worked at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens between 2000 and 2002 as a Research Assistant, being responsible for the project "ORESTEIA" IST-2000-26091, and at the Institute of Communications and Computer Systems (ICCS), Athens, Greece, being a Class C' Researcher from 2002 to 2003. During the period from September 2005 to January 2008, he joined the Department of Telecommunications Science and Technology (TST), University of Peloponnese (UOP) as an Adjunct Assistant Professor between 2006 and 2008. During the same period, he was also a Collaborating Researcher at the Computational Intelligence Laboratory (CIL) at the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications (IIT) of the National Center for Scientific Research "DEMOKRITOS". Since January 2008, Tsapatsoulis serves as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Communication Science and Technology (CIS) of the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT). He is Member of the Technical Chambers of Greece and Cyprus and Member of IEEE Signal Processing and Communication societies. Tsapatsoulis has published more than 95 papers in international journals, book chapters, and proceedings of international conferences. His research has been recognized by the international research community through more than 530 independent citations (Scholar Google, Scopus). He is the Coeditor of the book: Affective, Interactive and Cognitive Methods for E-Learning Design: Creating an Optimal Education Experience. His current research interests include automatic multimedia annotation and collaborative filtering models for recommender systems. Tsapatsoulis is the coordinator of two nationally and one EU funded projects related with automatic multimedia analysis and annotation.
