Aydin Tiryaki is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Izmir University, Izmir, Turkey. He received the B.S. degree in mathematics from Atatürk University, Erzurum, Turkey, and then received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Department of Mathematics, Ankara University, Ankara, Turkey. He became an assistant professor in 1986, an associate professor in 1990, and a full professor in 1996. During the period from 1986 to 1994 Tiryaki was a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics, Erciyes University, Kayseri, Turkey, and then Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkey (1994–2000), and Professor in the Department of Mathematics, Gazi University, Ankara, Turkey (2000–2008). He joined the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of Izmir University in July 2008, where he is currently a Full Professor. Between 2009 and 2012 he was the Vice-Rector of Izmir University. Research interests of Professor Tiryaki include qualitative theory of solutions of differential equations and difference equations. He has published more than fifty papers in international refereed journals on boundedness, stability, periodicity, asymptotic behaviours, oscillation, inequalities (Lyapunov type and Picone type inequalities), Sturm theory of ordinary differential equations, and half-linear elliptic type partial differential equations and contributed to textbooks supported by Turkish Academy of Sciences.
