Stefano Savazzi received the M.S. (2004) and Ph.D. (2008) degrees in information technology (both with honors) from the Dipartimento di Elettronica e Informazione, Politecnico di Milano, Milano, Italy. He was a Visiting Researcher at the Uppsala University, in 2005 (signals and systems), Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of California San Diego (UCSD), in 2007, and Senior Researcher at Forschungszentrum Telekommunikation, Wien (ftw), in 2010. In 2012, he joined the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (Italian National Research Council (CNR)) holding a permanent position as Researcher at the Institute of Electronics, Computer and Telecommunication Engineering (IEIIT). His current research interests include signal processing and networking aspects for wireless communications with special focus on cognitive and cooperative communication systems and wireless sensor networks for industrial automation and critical process control. Dr. Savazzi won the D.N. Chorafas Foundation Award for best Ph.D. degree dissertation.
