Luca Mesin

Politecnico di Torino, Italy

Luca Mesin was born in Alessandria, Italy in 1975. He graduated in electronics engineering at Politecnico di Torino in December 1999, with an experimental thesis entitled “Analysis of parasitic effects in mixed process integrated circuits,” Professor V. Pozzolo. In 2003, he passed the exam of Professional Engineer. In 2003, he obtained his Ph.D. degree in applied mathematics at Politecnico di Torino with the thesis: “Multiphase systems with applications to composite materials manufacturing,” Professor L. Preziosi. From 2003 to 2008, he was a Member of the Laboratory of Engineering of the Neuromuscular System (LISiN) of the Department of Electronics of Politecnico di Torino (Professor R. Merletti). Since 2008, he is Assistant Professor in bioengineering electronics and informatics of the Department of Electronics of Politecnico di Torino. He published about 30 manuscripts in international scientific journals, about 30 proceedings for national or international congresses, two chapters of books, and some publications for dissemination purposes. He prepared a patent for Politecnico di Torino, with title "System for the estimation of conduction block in motor nerves" (authors: Mesin L., Cocito D., Merletti R.). He is involved in reviewer activity for different journals focused on signal processing and mathematical modeling. He is involved in teaching activities at Politecnico di Torino. He held lessons in the fields of mathematical analysis, signal processing, probability, physics, mechanics, and bioengineering. He is a Professor of a course named “Models of Physiological Systems.” His main expertise concerns partial differential equations, theoretic and applied mathematics, modeling of biological systems, signal processing and interpretation, in particular in the biomedical field, basic and applied physiology.
