Arlette C. Perry

Arlette Perry received her undergraduate training at the City College of New York (CCNY) and Brooklyn College. She then received an assistantship to study at Louisiana State University, La, USA where she received her M.S. degree. She received her Ph.D. degree at New York University (NYU), NY, USA where her graduate education focused upon cardiovascular physiology, metabolism, and lipid biochemistry. Dr. Perry has focused the last 20 years of her work on women's health, specifically in the area of obesity prevention research. Using her training in cardiovascular physiology and her background in lipid biochemistry, she has worked in the area of obesity and fat distribution examining its health implications and its relation to metabolic variables. Of particular interest has been her research conducted in the underrepresented and underserved populations. Moreover, she expects to extend the knowledge base in women's health examining obesity and risk factors for cardiovascular disease in greater detail, particularly in minority populations.
