Jian-Hua Mao

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, USA

Jian-Hua Mao is a Geneticist Staff Scientist in Life Sciences Division, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Dr. Mao received his M.S. degree in biostatistics and cancer epidemiology at the Department of Biomathematics and Biostatistics, Beijing Medical University, Beijing, China, and the Ph.D. degree at the Department of Radiation Oncology, University of Glasgow, UK, and completed his postdoctoral training at the Department of Medical Oncology, the University of Glasgow. Major research interests in Mao Laboratory include the following: (1) identifying the combinations of genes and their functional polymorphisms that affect the susceptibility to tumor development using mouse models; (2) discovering genetic alterations in tumors using recently developed high-throughput technologies, such as CGH microarray, SNP microarray, gene expression microarray, and next-generation sequencing; (3) investigating the functional and mechanistic role of new discovered genes in tumor development using genetically engineering mice; (4) identifying the biomarkers for early diagnosis, prognosis, and response sensitivity to therapies.
