William T. Wcislo

William (Bill) Wcislo received his Ph.D. from University of Kansas, Lawrence (1991), and his B.S. (Biology) from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (1982). He is a Staff Scientist at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI), and heads the new STRI Laboratory for Behavior and Evolutionary Neurobiology. His research focuses on the adaptive evolution of insect behavior, especially in bees, ants, and wasps, addressing questions relating to the evolution of social and parasitic behavior, learning and other kinds of phenotypic plasticity, and the relationships between behavioral and neural evolution.
