Lawrence P. Horwitz
Lawrence P. Horwitz was born in 1930 in New York, NY, USA. He received a B.S.E.P. degree from College of Engineering, New York University, New York, NY, USA in 1952 and an A.M. degree in physics and Ph.D. degree (advisor Julian Schwinger) from Harvard University, Cambridge, Ma, USA in 1954 and 1957, respectively. Horwitz was with IBM Research Laboratory, Yorktown Heights, NY, USA in 1957–1964 and Department of Theoretical Physics, University of Geneva in 1964–1966 and 1971–1972. He also worked at Departments of Mathematics and Physics, University of Denver in 1966–1971 becoming Full Professor in 1969 and Visiting Professor at School of Physics in 1967-1968. Since 1972, he serves as a Full Professor at School of Physics, Tel Aviv University, Tel Aviv, Israel (Emeritus from 1998). Horwitz makes frequent visits to Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, NJ, USA (1990-2007) as a Member and The University of Texas at Austin, Austin, Tex, USA from 1969 up till now, as well as extended visits to Syracuse University, IHES in Bures-sur-Yvette, and Solvay Institute in Brussels.
