Mariapia Vairetti

Mariapia Vairetti was born in Sondrio, Italy (1963). She graduated with a degree in biology in 1986 from the University of Pavia, Pavia, Italy. In 1992, she specialized in pharmacology. She has been a Researcher since 2001 at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, University of Pavia; Aggregate Professor of pharmacology; and Member of the Docent College working on a Ph.D. degree in pharmacology and in life sciences at the University of Pavia, Pavia, Italy. She published over 200 papers in international refereed journals and presented at international conferences. Since 1990 she has been undertaking investigations on liver damage, performing experiments of cold and warm ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) in in vitro and in vivo models. In recent studies she evaluated new pharmacological and methodological approaches to protect livers against hypoxia/reperfusion damage and drug induced liver injuries (DILI). She is an Editorial Board Member of World Journal of Gastroenterology.
