Carlo Cervellati serves as an Associate Professor of clinical biochemistry in the Department of Biomedical and Specialist Surgical Sciences, University of Ferrara (UNIFE), Ferrara, Italy. He received a Ph.D. degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from the same university in 2004. During pursing his Ph.D. degree, he spent almost 1 year at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK, USA, where he worked on the kinetic characterization of 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase from sheep liver (i.e., topic of his Ph.D. thesis) . After his Ph.D. graduation, he continued working as a Postdoc in the Department of Biochemistry of UNIFE (for 4 years), where he was subsequently appointed as an Assistant Professor (in 2008) and then as an Associate Professor (in 2017). In the last 10 years, his research has been mainly focused on the role of oxidative stress, inflammation and dysfunctional lipoproteins in the pathogenesis aging diseases, Alzheimer’s disease and osteoporosis, inherited disorders, and obesity-related pathological conditions. Cervellati published over 65 articles and serves as reviewer for more than 20 journals. He teaches in undergraduates and graduate courses and he has been supervisor of Ph.D. students.
