Harry D. Kambezidis holds a B.S. degree in physics and B.Eng. in electrical engineering, an M.S. and an M.Phil. degree in microwave communications engineering, and a Ph.D. in atmospheric physics. He joined National Observatory of Athens (NOA) in 1981. In 1989, he was Research Assistant, in 1996, Senior Researcher, and, in 2000, Research Director. He leads the Atmospheric Research Team at NOA. He has 167 publications in scientific journals and 190 in scientific conferences. He is the author/coauthor of solar radiation chapters in books by Architectural Press (1997), Elsevier (2004), and Springer Verlag (2008); air pollution chapters in books published in NATO Scientific Publications (1997), NATO Science Series IV (2003); Hellenic Open University (2004); Atmospheric Aerosols book published by Nova Science Publishers (2009). He has been the Guest Editor for a special issue of the Journal of Applied Meteorology in 2000 and the Lead Guest Editor of the special issue on atmospheric aerosols and climate change of Advances in Meteorology in 2010. He has received several grants from the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (1992), the British Council in Athens (1993, 1994, 1996-1997, and 1997-1998), and the Air & Waste Management Association, USA. He has participated in 45 projects, while being the project leader in 14 of them. He has organised many scientific conferences on air pollution, physics, daylight, and urban nightscape, while he supervised 31 B.S., 22 M.S., and 12 Ph.D. projects. He has acted as the President of the Hellenic Physicists Union (1999-2000), President of the Hellenic Illumination Committee (2003–2006, 2006–2010), President of the National Park of Schinias-Marathon Administrative Board (2011–present), and Member of the Administration Board of the Centre of Renewable Energy Sources in Greece (2004–2007, 2007–2010). He is a regular Reviewer in 66 international scientific journals and Reviewer for many research proposals submitted for funding under various funding organisations.
