Ryszard Kryza

Ryszard Kryza, Professor, is the Head of the Department of Mineralogy and Petrology, Wroclaw University, Poland. He has an M.S. degree in geology from Wroclaw University (1973). He has also received a Ph.D. (1994) and a Dr. Hab. degrees in petrology (1979). His professional affiliations include the Polish Geological Society, Polish Mineralogical Society (currently its President since 2008), American Geophysical Union, and Ludlow Research Group. He taught courses in petrology, mineralogy, geochemistry, environmental sciences, and petroarchitecture and carried out research in metamorphic and igneous petrology (geothermobarometry, geotectonic settings), general and regional geology (igneous activity and metamorphism in orogenic belts), geochronology, meteorites, technical mineralogy and petrography, petroarchitecture and archaeometry (building stones, provenance studies, stone deterioration), environmental sciences (environmental mineralogy and geochemistry), geoeducation, and geotourism. Professor Kryza participated in international research projects and educational programs (e.g., EUROPROBE, TESZ, PACE, IAPETUS, RHEIC OCEAN, TEMPUS, and CEEPUS).
