Manuel Diaz Curiel graduated from Madrid Autonomous University, Madrid, Spain, in 1980. He finished his residency in internal medicine between 1973 and 1978. He worked as a Research Fellow at Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford, UK, Central Sygehuset, Esbjerg Denmark, Mineral Metabolic Unit, General Infirmary, Leeds, UK, Instituto de Semiotica Médica, Sienna, Italy. Currently, he serves as a Professor of clinical medicine, the Chair of Metabolic Bone Diseases, UAM, Madrid, the Head of the Internal Medicine and Metabolic Bone Diseases Department, FJD, Madrid. In addition, he is the Editor of REEMO Madrid, a Reviewer of Atención Primaria, and a Member of the following Editorial Boards: Revista Clinica Española (1996–1999) Drug Update, Revista MIR, Boletin de la Fundación Jimenes Diaz, Hueso y Salud. He is also a Member of various professional societies such as the Society of Internal Medicine, ASBMR, IBMS, ECTS, MSOSD, SIBOMM, and five Spanish societies. Moreover, he works as a President of FHOEMO, a Vice President of MSOSD, and an Ex President of SIBOMM. His fields of interest are clinical studies in epidemiology and treatment of osteoporosis, bone mass, primary hyperparathyroidism, animal models of osteoporosis, and male osteoporosis. Dr. Diaz-Curiel is the author (coauthor) of more than 400 journal articles and book chapters and has published, as an Editor, 30 books focused in the field of osteoporosis and related disorders. He has been involved in both basic and clinical research projects on bone disorders and has participated in several clinical trials since 1980 (more than 30). He belongs to several international advisory boards of different pharmaceutical companies.
