Stelios Loukides

Stelios Loukides was born in Thessaloniki at 1963. He finished the Medical School on 1987. After 5 years training, he took his specialty degree on 1994. He did a Postdoctoral Fellowship from 1996 to 1998 at Royal Brompton Hospital, National Heart & Lung Institute under the supervision of Professor PJ Barnes. From 1998 to 2005, he worked at the National Health System at Veterans Hospital Department of Respiratory Medicine. At 2005, he was elected as lecturer at the University of Athens Respiratory Medicine Department. From that time, he has been working at the 2nd Respiratory Medicine Department, Attikon University Hospital both as an academic and as a clinician. At 2010, he was elected as an Assistant Professor at the University of Athens Respiratory Medicine Department. His main research and clinical interests are asthma and COPD, particularly inflammatory mechanisms obtained from non invasive techniques. He is a Member of the European Respiratory Society, the American Thoracic Society, and the Fellow (elected) of the American College Chest Physicians. Currently, he is serving ERS as the New Secretary of ERS Monitoring Airway Diseases group. He has 51 publications in medical indexed journals, more than 150 presentations and/or chairing in international congresses, and 1600 citations in Scopus and ISI. He has already served as a Reviewer more than 25 PubMed indexed journals. Loukides was involved as a Member on the ERS/ATS task force for EBC collection and measurement.
