Maria Aguirre received a Licentiate degree in chemistry with highest honors “ Sobresaliente” University of Chile, Santiago, Chile in 1975 - 1982. Aguirre obtained a Ph.D. degree in chemistry from University of Santiago, Santiago, Chile, in 1998-1992. Aguirre worked as a Teaching and Research Assistant at the Department of Chemistry, University of Santiago in 1989-1994 .She served as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemistry of Materials and an Associated Research at Vicerrectorí a de Investigación, University of Santiago in 1994-1998. From1998 till 2003, Aguirre served as an Associated Professor at the Department of Chemistry of Material, University of Santiago .Since 2003, Aguirre has been a Titular (Full) Professor at the Department of Chemistry of Material, University of Santiago. Aguirre’?s main fields of interest are electrochemistry, materials and surface chemistry, analytical ,and inorganic chemistry, Organic and inorganic polymers, surface analysis (spectroscopic and nanoscopic techniques), electrochemical ,and catalytic interfaces .His current research interest include organized and supramolecular structures, composite materials, conducting polymers, sensors, and determination of electrochemical parameters for determination of wine aging.
