Patrick P. DeLuca
Patrick DeLuca is a holder of a Ph.D. degree and an Honorary Doctorate. Dr. DeLuca serves as an Emeritus Professor at the University Of Kentucky College Of Pharmacy, Lexington, KY, USA, and is a Sullivan Medalist. His teaching and research interests are in novel drug delivery, formulation and process development of proteins and peptides, and freeze-drying. Dr. DeLuca has mentored 75 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows and is the author of 220 publications. Fourteen of his students have received graduate student outstanding manuscript awards. Professor DeLuca is the recipient of several AAPS awards, including the Research Achievement Award in Pharmaceutical Technology, the Outstanding Educator Award, and the Dale Wurster Research Achievement Award in Pharmaceutics. In 2010, he received the first AAPS Award in Community Service. Recognitions from the University of Kentucky include the William B. Sturgill Award for outstanding contributions to graduate education and research, the Sullivan Medal for his humanitarian efforts, the Miles and Lyons Awards for his community service efforts, and a Distinguished Lecturer at the College of Pharmacy. Dr. DeLuca received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Perugia in Italy in 2006. In 2011, he received the Joseph B. Sprowls Award as the Distinguished Alumni of Temple University School of Pharmacy. He was the first Editor-in-Chief for AAPS PharmSciTech and formerly was the Chief Editor of Pharmaceutical Development and Technology. Dr. DeLuca is a Fellow and a founding Member of AAPS and recently served as the President of AAPS.
