Didier Stien, a holder of a Ph.D. degree, is a CNRS researcher, France, where he currently holds a full-time Research Scientist position at the Observatoire Océanologique de Banyuls, Banyuls-sur-Mer, France. He is also a Member of the Steering Committee in Labex in the Central Eastern Business Association (CEBA), which aims at promoting innovation in research on the Amazonian biodiversity. Dr. Stien research interests focus on the discovery of natural products and their exploitation in medicine, agriculture, and other human activities. He has completed a number of studies of the traditional remedies in the Amazon with a specific focus on their antiparasitic effect. He also works at understanding interspecific interactions in the ecosystems and valorizing the natural products involved in symbioses. He is a recipient of the Association Francophone pour l'Enseignement et la Recherche en Pharmacognosie (AFERP). He has some expertise in natural product research, analytical chemistry, chemical ecology, pharmacognosy, and total synthesis.
