Dr. Sharbel W. Maluf was professor of Genetics, Cytogenetics and Mutagenesis courses (undergraduate and graduate) related to health sciences. Member of the Internal Biosafety Commission (according to CTNBio – National Agency) from Hospital de Clinicas de Porto Alegre. Graduated in Biological Sciences, Masters and Ph.D in Genetics and Molecular Biology, Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. Internships: Molecular Cytogenetics, University of Zürich, Switzerland; Clinical Cytogenetics, Center for Clinical Genetics, City of Porto, Portugal. He is currently coordinator of the Laboratory of Cytogenetics and Molecular Cytogenetics in Medical Genetics Service, Hospital de Clinicas de Porto Alegre. Member of the Commission on Radiological Protection of Hospital de Clinicas de Porto Alegre. Reviewer for seven international journals. Postdoctoral fellows: Cell Biology, Embryology and Genetics; Health Sciences. Acting in the following research areas: genomic instability in chronic diseases, biological effects of ionizing radiation and clinical cytogenetics. He has authored 29 scientific publications, 15 book chapters and has organized the book "Human Cytogenetics", Artmed, 2011.
