Valeri P. Tolstoy is currently Professor of Solid State Chemistry Department, Saint Petersburg State University, Russia. He got the Chemical Engineering degree and the Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Technology, Leningrad, Russia, and the S.D. degree from Saint Petersburg State University, Russia. In 1996, he was a Research Fellow at the Hamburg State University (Germany) and in 2006 at the Michigan State University (USA). He is mainly interested in nanolayers and nanoparticles synthesis, layer-by-layer synthesis, colloid and interface science, electron microscopy, optical spectroscopy of nanostructures, sensors and actuators, fuel cells, solar cells, and hydrogen storage. Professor Tolstoy has published more than 200 papers, including 4 books and 17 patents. He is a Member of the New York Academy of Science, elected and listed in the encyclopedia "Who is Who in the World," Dictionary of International Biography, 29th Edition, Cambridge, England.
