Lionel Roucoules is currently professor at Arts et Métiers ParisTech Insitute (France – in the department of “Design, Industrialisation, Risk and Decision”. He has been promoted in September 2008. He was previously Associate Professor of design and manufacturing in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Université de Technologie de Troyes - UTT (France). He received his PhD in 1999 from the National Polytechnic Institute of Grenoble on collaborative product modelling. The context of his research is integrated design and collaborative IT platform in a global PLM vision. His specific interest is product-process interface. He proposed a DFM-synthesis approach which is now part of larger DFX by least commitment modelling concepts supported by a Model Driven Engineering platform for Virtual Product Development. He has been the leader of the national working Group IS3C (collaborative product development) for 4 years, he is member of the international IFIP WP5.1 (CAD and PLM for global product development). For 2 years he is head of the “Virtual Prototyping of mechanical systems” research team of the LSIS laboratory ( He is also president of the scientific council of the technological platform for innovation INOVSYS ( that aims at gathering researchers and industrials to perform high level technological advances.
