Shahzad G. Raja graduated from King Edward Medical College, Lahore, Pakistan, as best all-round graduate in 1996, holding B.S. degree, M.B.B.S. degree (honors), M.R.C.S. degree, and F.R.C.S. degree (C-Th). He carried out his basic surgical training at Mayo Hospital, Lahore, Pakistan. He passed M.R.C.S. from Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2001 and Intercollegiate Board Examination in Cardiothoracic Surgery in 2009. Dr. Raja received his specialty training in cardiothoracic surgery in Glasgow University Hospitals, Glasgow, UK; Harefield Hospital, London, UK; and Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, UK. He currently works as a consultant cardiac surgeon at Harefield Hospital, London. He has vastly published in peer-reviewed medical journals, contributed chapters to Cardiac Surgical Textbooks, and edited books for undergraduate and postgraduate examinations. His interests lie in medical writing, undergraduate teaching, medical education, and clinical research. Dr. Raja has a special interest in assessing the impact of off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery in improving outcomes and has edited two books on the subject.
