Ronald L. Klein is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Neuroscience at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, LA, USA. Klein obtained his Ph.D. degree in neuropharmacology from the University of Colorado, Boulder, CO, USA. Klein is a specialist in gene transfer to the CNS and has been focusing on neuropathological proteins in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis: microtubule-associated protein tau, alpha-synuclein, and TDP-43. Klein’s educational background is in neuropharmacology during his Ph.D. at the University of Colorado and postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Florida, Gainesville, FL, USA. Klein has utilized the adeno-associated virus vector for both focal and global gene delivery to the CNS, for the purposes of creating relevant mammalian models of neurodegenerative disease and for preclinical gene therapy.
