Chee Kiang Ivan Tan obtained a B.Eng. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Newcastle, Callaghan, NSW, Australia, in 2003. Currently, he is a Senior Research Specialist at IMRE working on developing a cost effective low sintering temperature multilayer piezoelectric actuator that can be widely used in liquid dispensers. He has published several peer-reviewed articles in renowned journals such as Journal of American Ceramics Society, Ceramics International, and International Journal of Applied Ceramic Technology. Ivan also filed 2 patents as coinventor in Singapore. He has also supervised eight industrial attachment students in IMRE. Currently, he serves in different capacities in raising the public awareness of health and safety of laboratories in IMRE and planning of infrastructural layout and resources for new laboratories. He also actively participates in meetings and conferences of Materials Research Society, Singapore (MRS-S).
