Graduated from Dhaka University with Honors in Biochemistry in 1974. Obtained Masters degree in Biochemistry from Dhaka University in 1976. Obtained Ph.D. from University of Hong Kong in 1982 as a Commonwealth Scholar. Served in various capacities at Kansas State University, Auburn University and Weis Center for Research, USA from 1982 till 2000. Became Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences, Khulna University, Bangladesh from 2000-2002. Became Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Development Alternative from 2002. Currently serving as Pro-Vice Chancellor, University of Development Alternative, Bangladesh. Number of publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals exceeds 300. Number of presentations in international scientific conferences over 250. Scientific interests: Ethnomedicine and pharmacological activity studies of medicinal plants.
