Svetla Nikolova

Svetla Nikolova was born and educated in Bulgaria. She earned a B.S. degree in molecular biology (2005) and a M.S. degree in microbiology and microbiological control (2007) at the Faculty of Biology, Sofia University, Sofia, Bulgaria, and a M.D. degre at the Medical University-Sofia, Sofia, Bulgaria (2015). She graduated with a Ph.D. degree in genetics from the National Genetic Laboratory, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Faculty of Medicine, Medical University-Sofia, Sofia, Bulgaria (2016). Her Ph.D. thesis was concerned with osteogenetics, in particular molecular genetics of idiopathic scoliosis. In 2017 Dr. Nikolova was appointed Physician in the prestigious Sofia University Hospital Lozenetz and Assistant Professor in medical genetics in the Medical Faculty of Sofia University. Her research interests include genetics of multifactorial diseases, genetic counseling, and microbiology. Dr. Nikolova is the author of 25 research papers (30 cites) and a reviewer of 5 peer-reviewed international journals. She has participated in 7 projects and has a 1st award from a national conference.
