Ernest B. Cady
Ernest B. Cady has present appointments as the Consultant Clinical Scientist at the Section of the Head Magnetic Resonance Physics, Department of Medical Physics and Bioengineering, University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at University College London. He received a B.S. degree (with honors) in astronomy from the University College London; and a Diploma for Advanced Studies in Science (radio astronomy) from Manchester University. His memberships include being a Fellow at the Institute of Physics, European Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and Biology, and the British Chapter International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine. He has been granted from the Swiss National Science Foundation; Action Medical Research; Medical Research Council, UK; Scottish Government Health Directorate; Wellcome Trust: Department of Biotechnology India Alliance; Peking University Clinical Research Program. He serves as a Peer-reviewer at the NMR in Biomedicine, Journal of Physiology, Brain, Pediatric Research, Journal of Magnetic Resonance, Physics in Medicine and Biology, Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, Brain Research, NeuroImage, American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine, Springer. His research interests include that, since 1982, he has played a major role in characterizing cerebral metabolism soon after birth asphyxia. His main interests are within phosphorus and proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) of newborn brain; metabolite absolute quantitation; MRS regional brain thermometry; translational MRS biomarkers of perinatal cerebral hypoxic-ischaemic injury; therapies ameliorating cerebral injury including hypothermia and inhaled xenon.
