Itzhak Brook received the M.D. and M.S. degrees. He is a Professor of pediatrics and medicine at the Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington DC, Wash, USA. He is the Past Chairman of the Anti-infective Drug Advisory Committee of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Dr. Brook earned his medical degree and completed his residency at the Hadassah School of Medicine, the Hebrew University, in Jerusalem, Israel and obtained his M.S. degree in pediatrics from the University of Tel Aviv in Israel. Subsequently, he completed a fellowship in adult and pediatric infectious diseases at the University of California School of Medicine, San Francisco, Calif, USA. Brook is a member of more than 20 professional organizations and a Fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the Society for Pediatric Research, and the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society. His research interests include the pathogenesis and therapy of anaerobic and polymicrobial infections, including upper respiratory tract infections. Dr Brook has authored more than 700 publications in scientific journals and 10 textbooks. He is an Editor, Associate Editor, and member of the editorial board of several medical journals.
