Yoshiji Yamada received an M.D. degree in 1982 and a Ph.D. degree in 1990 in internal medicine from Nagoya University Graduate School of Medicine in Nagoya, Japan. He carried out postdoctoral research at the Eccles Institute of Human Genetics, University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. Presently, he works as a Professor and the Director of the Department of Human Functional Genomics, Life Science Research Center, Mie University, Tsu, Japan. His research interests include genetic epidemiology and functional genomics of common complex diseases to develop personalized medicine.
