Prakash Basnyat is a Postdoctoral Researcher working at National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Golden, CO, USA. Basnyat obtained the B.S. (1992) and M.S. (1995) degrees in physics from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal. Basnyat got the M.S. degree (2006) from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Carbondale, IL, USA, and the Ph.D. degree (2013) in applied physics under joint doctoral program of New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), Newark, NJ, USA, and Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, New Brunswick, NJ, USA. Basnyat worked as a Research Assistant at the National Center for Photovoltaics, Golden, CO, USA, from 2010 to 2013. Areas of research are nitride based nanocomposite thin films, Heusler compounds based on magnetic rare earth material, and materials science of silicon solar cells. Currently his work focuses on the general area of semiconductors with emphasis on silicon materials and solar cell technology. The work results have been published in several international peer-reviewed journals such as Applied Physics Letters, Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, Surface and Coatings Technology, Journal of Applied Physics, Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, and Review of Scientific Instruments. These papers have received more than two hundred citations till now. The scientific results from these works were presented in various conferences and were well received by the participants. In addition, Basnyat has been working as a Reviewer of various journals of magnetism and condensed matter physics, Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells, and reviewed and adjudicated various articles and recently contributed as a Guest Editor for Photovoltaic Materials and Devices 2016, an annual issue of International Journal of Photoenergy.
