Theodore A. Antonakopoulos

Theodore A. Antonakopoulos received the Diploma degree in electrical engineering. In September 1985, he started his postgraduate studies in the field of computer communication networks. In April 1989, he received his Ph.D. degree with honors. Since 1991, he has been at the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Patras, Patras, Greece, where he is currently a Professor. As a Senior Researcher and a Technical Supervisor at the Laboratory of Electrotechnics, he is leading the Communications and Embedded Systems (COMES) Group, with research focusing on the following areas: development of data communication devices and local area and wireless networks, with emphasis on efficient hardware implementation and rapid prototyping. From 1995 to 1996, he spent his sabbatical year at the Research Triangle Institute (RTI), Durham, NC, USA, where he was involved in hardware development for multiprocessing in mobile communications. He has published over 130 scientific papers and he has more than 650 citations. He participated in numerous conferences in Greece and abroad, sometimes, as a member of the organizing committee. Since 1999, he has been a Senior Member of the IEEE, has participated in several societies of the IEEE, and has been a Member of the Greek Technical Chamber.
