Jesús Pintor since 2011 has been a Full Professor in the Biochemistry Department of the Faculty of Optics and Optometry of the University Complutense of Madrid, Spain. He has his M.S. degree in biological sciences since 1989 and a Ph.D. degree in biochemistry and molecular biology since 1993 from the University Complutense of Madrid. He made three scientific stays in foreign research institutions, in the University Johann Wolfgang Goethe, Germany, the year 1990, in the Institute Bogomoletz in Kiev, Ukraine, the year 1992, and in the University College London, UK, the year 1994. He is author of 211 scientific publications (most in the JCR) and book articles. He is author of 22 patents and participated in 51 research projects mainly as Principal Researcher. He is a full Member (number 36) of the Spanish Royal Academy of Pharmacy since 2005. His research activity is currently focused on four research lines. First research line is the investigation of intraocular pressure- (IOP-) glaucoma since 1998, analyzed in two sublines: nucleotides and intraocular pressure and melatonin and intraocular pressure. Second line of research since 2000 is the investigation of ocular surface and especially the tear secretion, corneal wound healing, and nucleotides. Third line of research since 2009 is the study of retina in relation to glaucoma and other neurodegenerative diseases. Fourth line of research since 2003 is the study of the disease known as achondroplasia or dwarfism. He belongs to the editorial board of the following scientific journals: Journal of the Real Academia Nacional de Farmacia, Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, Biochemical Pharmacology Journal, and Journal of Translational Medicine. He is creator and owner of the spin‐off company of the University Complutense OcuPharm Diagnostics SL
