Kanjuro Makihara

Kanjuro Makihara serves as an Associate Professor at Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan. He is currently working on vibration controls for space structures and acoustic controls for satellites inside rocket fairings. He received his Ph.D. degree in aerospace engineering in 2004 from the University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan. His Ph.D. thesis was devoted to semiactive vibration suppression using an energy-recycling approach, and he is interested in applying the energy-recycling method to various engineering problems. In 2002–2003, he spent a year as a Visiting Researcher at the Vienna University of Technology, Vienna, Austria where he researched vibration canceling methods. From 2007, he moved to the Cambridge University, Cambridge, UK as a Research Fellow that was anointed by the Japanese government.
