Robert Phelps

Robert Phelps received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University, NY, USA and his Medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, USA. He then trained in anatomic pathology at New York University and in dermatology at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. During those training programs, Dr. Phelps was mentored in dermatopathology by Dr. A Bernard Ackerman and Dr. Martin Brownstein. Dr. Phelps also spent two years in basic research in collagen, in the laboratories of Dr. Raul Fleischmajer and Dr. Burton Goldberg funded by the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Phelps serves currently as a Professor of dermatology and pathology and the Chief of Dermatopathology at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He is certified in anatomic pathology, dermatology, dermatopathology, and dermatologic immunology. Dr. Phelps' academic interests include pigmented lesions, environmentally induced skin disorders, collagen vascular diseases, and genetic diseases of the skin.
