In 1995-96 Fellow of the Royal Society of London. In 2000-2008 worked as visiting researcher and visiting professor at University of Jyvaskyla and Helsinki University of Technology (Finland), Radon Institute of Computational and Applied Mathematics (Linz, Austria), Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and University of Zurich (Switzerland), University of Houston (USA), University of Valenciennes (France); University of Saarbrucken (Germany).
