Shouetsu Itou

Shouetsu Itou was born in Gojoume, Japan, in 1945. He received his Ph.D. degree of engineering from Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, in 1980. He was a Research Associate at Tohoku University from 1968 to 1973 and an Associate Professor at Hachinohe Institute of Technology from 1973 to 1987. Presently, he is a Professor of mechanics of materials at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Kanagawa University. He was a recipient of JSME Medal Award for a paper in 1981. Professor Itou works in the area of the mixed boundary value problems relating to crack(s) in the materials. The stress intensity factors are solved using the Fourier transform method, and these are calculated numerically using a Fortran program.
