Xiaowei Ye serves currently as an Associate Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering, Zhejiang University, Zhejiang, China. His research interests include structural health monitoring, smart materials and structures, fatigue of steel structures, and structural reliability. Ye received his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, in 2010. He is a Member of the International Society for Structural Health Monitoring of Intelligent Infrastructure (ISHMII) and a Member of the International Association for Life‐Cycle Civil Engineering (IALCCE). He has been serving as a Guest Editor for 3 international journals and was invited as a Peer Reviewer for 12 international journals. In 2009, he received studentship fund from the Division of Civil, Mechanical & Manufacturing Innovation at the US National Science Foundation for attending the NSF CMMI Research and Innovation Conference 2009 in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. He is a recipient of a gold medal and a grand prize at the 37th International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva (2009) and a golden prize at the 11th China International Industry Fair in Shanghai (2009) for the invention of the Mega‐Structure Diagnostic and Prognostic System. Also, he has received a gold medal and a grand prize at the 41st International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva (2013) and an innovation award at the 15th China International Industry Fair in Shanghai (2013) for the invention of the Intelligent Ship‐Bridge Anti‐Collision Surveillance System. Ye has served as PI or co‐PI for 20 research projects. He has published 64 papers including 36 peer‐reviewed journal articles, 1 book, and 2 international conference proceedings. He is also a coinventor of 2 Chinese patents.
