John A. Stanford

John Stanford is an Associate Professor in the Department of Molecular & Integrative Physiology at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS, USA. Dr. Stanford earning his PhD in Developmental Psychology, where he incorporated operant behavioral techniques to study motor side effects of psychotropic drugs. He then conducted his postdoctoral work in neurobiology of aging at the University of Kentucky, where he focused on age-related changes in nigrostriatal function in the context of parkinsonism. Dr. Stanford's current research involves using operant behavioral techniques to obtain translatable measures of motor function in rodent models of aging, Parkinson's disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and stroke. He is also interested in the relationship between insulin resistance and neurological function.
