Niels Olsen Saraiva Câmara

Dr. Niels Olsen Saraiva Camara obtained his bachelor in Medicine at the Federal University of Ceará in 1991. His Master and PhD in Nephrology were obtained at Federal University of São Paulo at Division of Nephrology, and at Université de Tours, Paris. Dr. Camara was a post-doctoral fellow at the Immunology Departament at Imperial College London from 2000 to 2003. In 2004, Dr. Camara started working at the Department of Immunology at University of São Paulo, in São Paulo, Brazil as a Professor of Immunology. In this institution he started working with regulation of inflammatory process in renal diseases, especially kidney transplant. Specifically, his lab is focusing on the understanding of the regulatory mechanisms, particular regulatory T cells, involved in the induction of transplantation tolerance. Today, Dr. Camara is a full professor at the Department of Immunology, Institute of Biomedical Sciences at the University of São Paulo.
