R. Fernandez-Ballesteros, Ph.D., has been working since 1979 as a Full Professor of psychology at the Autonomous University of Madrid, Madrid, Spain, where she has been Chair of the Department of Psychodiagnosis and Measurement (1980 –1983), First Dean of the Faculty of Psychology (1983 –87), Director of the Master's Program in Social Gerontology (1990 –2005), and, since 2004, Director of the University Program for Older Persons (PUMA). She has been President of the IAAP Divison 2 (Psychological Assessment,1990 –94) and Division 7 (Applied Gerontology, 2002 –06), and Member of the Executive Committee (from 1990 to 2006). Fernandez-Ballesteros was also a Fellow Member of the Gerontological Society of America. She is Founder and former President of the European Association of Psychological Assessment (EAPA, 1992 –1999). She is Founder and former Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Psychological Assessment (EJPA) (1985 –2005), Associate/Consulting Editor of 20 National and International Scientific Journals, Consultant, Advisor, and/or Evaluator of international organizations (UN, UNESCO, and WHO). Author of 26 books on psychological assessment and evaluation, aging, and more than 250 research articles published in Spanish, English, and Italian. She was awarded the Aristotle Prize (EFPA, 2005), Distinguish Award (IAAP, 2006), and the “Huarte de San Juan” Award for her contribution to psychological science (COP-CyL).
