Christian D MULLER has a Ph.D. degree in pharmacology in 1983 (P. Benveniste and F. Schuber's lab, ULP Strasbourg). He was appointed by the CNRS on his first candidature the same year. After his second Ph.D. degree (Docteur ès Sciences), he held a 2-year postdoctoral position at the Stanford University (Syntex Research, Palo Alto, Calif, USA). Coming back to France, he joined the Faculty of Pharmacy in Illkirch where after a few years he started to build up the cytometry core facilities of the institute. The actual cytometry plate-forme (5 cytometers) was awarded in 2007 as the European excellence center by Millipore-Guava. In 1996, he was a cofounder of the startup Antibody Solutions, a biotech still active in California. For 10 years (1997–2007), he has been an elected Member of the Board of the French Association of Cytometry (AFC).
